FNAF: Sister Location is a survival horror game where you complete technician tasks, avoid Funtime animatronics, use audio cues, and survive five nights.
FNAF: Sister Location is a first-person survival horror game created by Scott Cawthon. Instead of spending every night inside one security office, you work as a late-night technician at Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental and move between vents, control rooms, auditoriums, and maintenance areas. Each shift introduces a different task, from checking animatronics and restarting power systems to repairing Funtime Freddy and surviving inside a springlock suit.
Sister Location changes the traditional Five Nights at Freddy's formula by giving individual nights their own mechanics. One section may ask you to crawl quietly through Ballora Gallery, while another requires using a flash beacon to locate Funtime Foxy or interacting with a maintenance panel while Funtime Freddy moves closer.
HandUnit normally provides your work instructions, but simply reacting to visual threats is not enough. Audio becomes especially important during several sections. Ballora's music tells you how close she is, while other encounters require listening for movement or following spoken directions accurately.
The original Windows version changes controls depending on the task, but the core inputs are:
Browser recreations can present some interactions as on-screen buttons, but the common desktop versions preserve the mouse-driven interaction and WASD-style movement used by the original game.
The first shift functions as an introduction to the control modules and the animatronics. You learn how to check performance areas with lights and use controlled shocks when HandUnit tells you that an animatronic is not responding correctly.
Night 2 introduces several very different survival tasks. After hiding beneath a desk from the Bidybabs, you must cross Ballora Gallery. Ballora reacts to sound, and her music becomes louder as she approaches, so continuing to move at the wrong moment can cause a jumpscare.
The same night sends you into the Breaker Room, where systems must be restarted while Funtime Freddy becomes increasingly dangerous. The maintenance panel and Mascot Response Audio compete for your attention, so trying to restore every system without checking Freddy is risky.
To reach Parts & Service, you cross the dark Funtime Auditorium while Funtime Foxy is active. The flash beacon lets you check whether Foxy is in your path. Moving in short intervals and checking ahead is safer than trying to cross the entire auditorium continuously.
Parts & Service then changes the pace again. You must open Funtime Freddy's face and chest components, remove his power module, and deal with Bon-Bon to complete the repair sequence. Pressing the wrong area or failing to locate Bon-Bon can end the attempt.
Night 4 removes normal exploration and traps you inside a springlock suit in the Scooping Room. Ten springlocks gradually loosen and must be wound back up while Minireenas climb onto the suit. Wiggling can knock them away, but that movement also loosens the springlocks, creating a constant tradeoff between two threats.
The fifth shift returns to Parts & Service and Funtime Auditorium. You must complete another precise maintenance sequence and then navigate the dark auditorium by following spoken directions. The main route leads toward the Scooping Room, while meeting additional requirements can open a secret Private Room route and an alternative ending.
Sister Location frequently gives you information through sound rather than a permanent camera feed. Ballora is the clearest example: when her music becomes louder in the gallery, stop moving and wait for it to fade before continuing.
That design means playing with attention to audio is part of understanding the mechanics. Moving continuously because the path looks empty can be more dangerous than waiting several seconds for the correct sound cue.
Funtime Auditorium is completely dark during important sections. On Night 3, use the flash beacon to check for Funtime Foxy, move a short distance when the route is clear, then check again. The beacon reveals your surroundings only briefly, so treat each flash as information for the next movement rather than trying to rush through darkness.
Night 5 uses the same area differently. Instead of relying on the beacon, you must follow the directions being given to you. Using the wrong movement or ignoring an instruction can result in Ennard catching you.
Ballora tracks movement in her gallery. When the music approaches, continuing forward creates unnecessary risk. Wait until the sound becomes more distant before crawling again.
Restarting systems keeps your attention away from Funtime Freddy. Restore part of a system, then check his danger level and use the available audio response when necessary before returning to the panel.
The flash beacon only gives you brief information. Check ahead, move a manageable distance, and flash again instead of committing to a long run through the auditorium.
Do not focus on only one springlock until every other gauge becomes dangerous. Rotate your attention around the suit and use wiggles only when the Minireenas require them, because excessive movement works against the springlock task.
When you are told to stop, stop. When the instruction says to move forward and left, use the required directional combination. This section rewards precise execution rather than exploring freely.
Sister Location also received a Custom Night mode built around the Private Room. It combines doors, a central vent, cameras, limited power, and a larger selection of animatronic behaviors. Characters used in the mode include Ballora, Funtime Freddy, Funtime Foxy, Bidybab, Electrobab, Minireenas, Yenndo, Bonnet, and Lolbit.
The Windows controls also change in Custom Night: W closes the vent door, A controls the left door, D controls the right door, S raises or lowers the monitor, and E performs a controlled shock.

Scott Cawthon developed and published Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location. The original PC release launched on October 7, 2016.
The main story is organized around five work nights, with each shift introducing new tasks and survival mechanics. Additional content includes alternative-ending gameplay and Custom Night.
No. Unlike earlier FNAF games, Sister Location regularly moves you between vents, control modules, Ballora Gallery, Funtime Auditorium, Parts & Service, the Breaker Room, and other areas.
Listen to her music while crossing Ballora Gallery. When it becomes louder, stop moving and wait until she moves farther away before continuing.
You must keep multiple springlocks wound while Minireenas climb onto the suit. Wiggling removes some Minireenas but also loosens the springlocks, so both mechanics must be managed together.
FNAF: Sister Location rewards players who adapt instead of relying on one repeated defensive routine. Listen for Ballora, check the darkness before moving around Funtime Foxy, divide your attention carefully in the Breaker Room, and keep Night 4's springlocks under control without wiggling more than necessary. Each shift teaches a different survival rule, and learning when to move, wait, listen, or interact is what carries you deeper into Circus Baby's facility.
